I find that the bigger the project is, or the longer the H.264 clips are affect performance. v7 does have background transcoding, but nothing is free – you now have two processes working at the same time – transcoding, then playback and editing. So be sure to look at minimum system requirements to get the best performance. An extension to background transcode is DMF (Dynamic Media Folders), these are rules based folders you can set up and whatever you drop in there will start a transcode to whatever settings you have set up whether MC is running or not.

I don’t believe the CMX specification ever allowed for 24 audio tracks.

Do they export any kind of metadata file? I don’t see much mentioned in that area on the website.

Save out as a TAB file, then run it through Avid Log Exchange which takes in TAB and export ALE. Or you can add the global header from another ALE into the file.
Top Row are column names but must match Avid’s uppercase/lowercase exactly. I would suggest exporting a TAB from MC and using that as a template. Also make sure the exported or save-as TAB file has proper “returns” after each clip data’s entry. Especially the last line in the file.

Something to try… open file(s) in a 108op/29.97 project. Then open bin in a 1080i/59.94. The frame rate mix and match should turn it into a 1080i. Transcode a test clip (with lots of motion) to 1080i/59.94. Then open that clip in a 1080p/23.976 project to see if it can do a better job with the 2:3 pulldown.

Is it 720p/59.94 or 1080p/29.97? A progressive frame with embedded blended “fields/frames” is harder to remove in 1080p/29.97. If 1080i/59.94, open in the files in a 1080i/59.94 first, then open than bin in a 1080p/23.976 project. Form there a motion adapter will be applied when you edit the clip on the timeline removing the 2:3 pulldown. If there is a hiccup you can open the clip in Effects mode and reset the ABCD cadence to correct.

When you select “recreate title media” does it offer up a nearest alternative or the one that it is looking for?

YES! Sorry I assumed that part of the process was taken care of, but it is imperative to have proper archiving of camera originals. Always a good reminder.
