It affects “playback” so output to tape and such would be affected. Export is always the full quality and the button has no affect on that part of the process.

I am assuming you mean in the script window after opening a .txt file? What happens if you click in the window or do a “select ALL” in the window – is there something there? If so, select all and go to edit menu and change font. Changing color “might work”. If not, select all, then do a command-x. Go to the original text file and copy the text, then past back into the script window to see if that helps.

Your best bet is to send back to Premiere and have it export an AAF. Import the AAF then link to the source clips via AMA. Then “try” a “relink to selected”.

Import is very old code that is single threaded. AMA is all brand new and is multi-threaded allowing more cores to the transcode process. In most cases, AMA->transcode is at least twice as at fast as import. Also AMA’ing to clips in v7 give you far more control via source settings such as reframing a shot (frameflex” and ability to apply 1D and 3D LUTs.
For now, the background process is only for transcoding. I suspect we will see “save and render” in the background in future releases. Exporting would be nice as well.

I would say wait till the new MacPro hits the market and see what the lineup looks like from there. Then depending on your budget and needs, decided between an iMac and or the MacPro for desktop systems. Seeing as Thunderbolt is the new connectivity to everything, the MacPro has 3 buses (6 connections) versus iMac’s 2.

There is a button called “extend edit” whose icon looks like >|< that does this function. Instead of the blue bar, it uses the Mark IN and Out to define which edit and new position. Look up “extend edit” in the user guide or the online help for detailed information. Another great shortcut for you to look at is “top and tails”.

Sounds like 29.97 was the “master plan” and would suggest you stay in 29.97 as most of your elements seem to be at that rate. The 23.976 singer material can be brought into your 29.97 project. First open that material in a 1080p/23.976 project then open those bins in a 29.97 project. Mix & Match will kick in and add the 2:3 pulldown. The question is whether the 29.97 is progressive or interlace as that it what the project type will need to be.
I will say it’s strange in this day to shoot 23.976 video with 30fps playback and sync on set. That is legacy from SD workflows before HD was available. Media Composer can track 30fos timecode in the TC30 column while editing 23.976 material… that may work for you as well.
