I am an editor who has a five-day job coming up on a low-budget short film. I’ve been offered a space to edit in which is essentially just a new iMac with USB3 and a thunderbolt connector.

I will need the client to buy a hard drive and I’ll need to transcode a lot of Canon 5D rushes to DNxHD 185 and I definitely want a second monitor.

I know I can chain via thunderbolt to a new G-Raid but can I then connect the thunderbolt drive via DVI to a non-thunderbolt monitor? I don’t want to have to buy an Apple thunderbolt monitor solely for this job.

    Many thanks in advance,

    John

That great. Everything should work fine then, fingers crossed.

Thanks for your help. I couldn’t find an answer to that question anywhere online.

    Best wishes,
