Fonts in MC PC/Mac
Posted by Chip Hess on August 19, 2013 at 1:33 pmSo I brought a project home to my Mac-based system.
This was created on a PC station.
I go to change some text in Marquee, and get the message regarding
subbing out some missing fonts.Thing is, I believe have those fonts installed.
Is there a way to find out which font MC is telling me is missing?
I frankly don’t recall which I used awhile back.Which begs the question, what font location on Mac
does Avid draw from?Chip Hess replied 12 years, 9 months ago 3 Members · 7 Replies -

August 19, 2013 at 1:38 pmAs far as I know, it uses the same font collection that is managed by the OS and used by every other application. The issue between PC and Mac fonts, is despite having the same name, there may be a different ID associated with them that would cause this to happen. You might want to try “sequence report” (right click sequence in bin) which is designed to give a report of plug-ins, etc. that are needed to conform the sequence. I can’t recall whether fonts are included in that report. If they are not, they should be (as well as font vendor and any other info that can be gleaned).

August 19, 2013 at 1:47 pmWell here is a sequence report for a one event timeline (v7) from an AMA linked R3D file with a simple title from the title tool. While it lists that a “title effect” was found in the sequence, it does not give any further information on font, etc. I am inclined to say it will be the same for Marquee.

August 19, 2013 at 1:54 pmThanks Michael, that’s pretty much what I figured.
That font info would be useful in these situations, yes! -

August 20, 2013 at 4:22 pmi thought the error message it gave out listed the name of the missing font.
Has that changed, or am i thinking of a different program?

August 20, 2013 at 4:42 pmWhen you select “recreate title media” does it offer up a nearest alternative or the one that it is looking for?

August 21, 2013 at 4:35 pmNearest alternative, which was Times Roman – nothing like the original.
I have since moved back to work and wrapped it up, though. Thanks all!
