In order to do that, you will have to hop through a lot more steps within Media Composer or create dailies with all BWF ISO tracks in a third party dailies app. In the latter, you bring in the master clips with all the ISO’s then use an ALE merge to create subclips of just the MIX track. Now when you match back you go to the master clip.
To create that in Media Composer, you need to export your .sync clips and reimport them back in ensuring that that source clip Tape or Source File (workflow will differ a little depending on which one), bring the files back in, merge the subclips exported ALE with all your important metadata back into those master clips. This assumes a AMA link/Source File workflow. If “Tape” is required, then you need to import ALE first, then batch imports the exported clips.

Why the need for master clips? The behavior you seek for matchback to audio only ISO tracks works from subclips (.sync). This is the way it has always behaved.

Are you doing a “relink to selected” from the sequence to the AMA’d clips?

Does it work as expected from non-group clips?

If you do the show reference clip and are selecting all the master clips, just ignore the handles as it’s most likely just a GUI thing that will have no effect on your results.

I just did this yesterday – made a custom project that matched my target output, AMA Linked, set Source Settings appropriately (can’t recall off the top of my head). FrameFlex’d in the timeline. When done, I exported via AMA export an OP1a in DNxHR. From there I encoded the OP1a to be delivery spec using Adobe Media Encoder.

You can also open a copy of the files in Wave Agent and set sample rate to 47.952 and it will get pulled down upon import. See my spreadsheet for these types of modifications:

Autosequence the audio clips that belong together. Export as WAV direct out settings. Open them up in WAVE AGENT to ensure timecode is correct as per my blog:
