Markers on V and A tracks move with the clip during edit operations. Markers and spanned markers on the TC track do not move with any edit operations.

In the past I have created a dummy clip that I logged that encompassed the full range of clips I wanted to have in a single group clip, then included that when grouping based on common timecode. This way there is always a camera active while the other can be going on and off. Then I don’t display that once I set up the group. Maybe that will work for you?

If the backround is an exact match through the motion controlled camera, can you not use Animatte to extract the character from each shot and layer as needed?

If they have common timecode, why not use group or multigroup? Or are you using autosequence to manually set sync references first? There is no function that takes a sequence such as this and creates a group/multigroup although it would be possible to engineer such a solution and is a great feature request that has come up many times before.

Seeing as the total number of frames is the same, I suspect the file size itself is also the same. Duration is based on total number of frames divided by frame rate, so a slower rate will have longer times.

When you import the AAF and view it in the “edit” pane as an EDL, what does it show as REEL? Then look at your media pool (the MXF directory) and see if what is listed as REEL is the same. You may have to adjust or do an “ignore extension” when importing AAF.

If they have common timecode, then put all the clips in the same bin, select all, go to AutoSync (Bin menu) and sync by START timecode. You will end up with one .sync subclip for every matching pair. Rename as needed.
The above assumes that one set of files is V or VA and the other is A only.

I need a bit more clarification to be able to help. You’ve captured video (and audio?) via tape and you have separate audio (imorted or tape captured?) that you need to sync. In addition to these questions;
1. Do the picture and sound elements needing to be sync have common timecode from production?
2. Do picture and sound elements have clearly recorded slate and clap?Based on that, your syncing process can be fast, or not. If you have no slates or common timecode, then it will be painful at the very least, or multi-step with a program like Pluraleyes.

When you (they” say ScriptSync files, does this mean they will line the transcript/script using ScriptSync and send you the .avs and media for your Media Composer? If so, you will see two lines for each portion of dialog where one is English and should be protected by brackets [ ] so that ScriptSync ignores it, and there will be the original French. So for any given line you will have:
[How are ya? Are you going to the movies with me tonight?]
Ça va? Tu viens au cinéma avec moi ce soir?Clicking on any line will take you to the first word in that line in the clip. It is not word based, but line based. If you want more granularity, you need to make shorted lines. For the above it would look like:
[How are ya?]
Ça va?[Are you going to the movies]
Tu viens au cinéma][with me tonight?]
avec moi ce soir?But cutting into a sentence may have different results due to the difference in grammatical structure. The french line could have been: “tu viens avec moi au cinema ce soir?” and have the basic same English translation. That’s where knowing the language helps where cutting on words, reactions, and intent of meaning may make a difference in the pace and rhythm.

Make sure the Media Files are in the same folder hierarchy as on original drive at the root level:
drive/Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1
Where “1” can be any numbered folder: 2, 3, 4,
A sequence can only be in a bin. Open the bin in your project and it should link automatically if your media is in the proper location.
