I’m not sure this is your issue, but I made a human error pulling an adapter (with an SDHC card inside) before the camera completed the writing to the card and it only shows 42 mins available on this SDHC card now.

Originally my 16gig SxS cards showed 57 mins and now they show 55 mins due to firmware updates.

Perhaps you can run a diagnostic on the card and clear some memory then reformat it in the camera????

Try setting the camera to 24p format then look at that setting, or make sure you have a newer firmware.

I know my Nano recognizes the signal it receives and I’m sure it is the same for the KiPro. If you choose 24p format then you can set the SDI output for either 60i or 24p on the EX cameras.

You’ll need to learn what lenses work best for you.

I have the Red Rock Encore and I have collected several Nikon lenses. Most of my prime lenses are fairly fast and range from 18mm – 85mm.

Yes, There isn’t that much difference between these codecs, Final Cut works with nearly any media and I’m sure you can color match without any issues.

Somewhere is the Menu you can control the top zoom control and I topically set the Low setting to 2 and High setting to 5-6.

No, the F3 has a new Super 35mm single CMOS sensor and this is about 4 times the size of the (3) 1/2 sensors in the EX cameras. The Red also uses a single CMOS sensor. More information and opinions will surface in the next few months on the quality and characteristics of the F3.

I believe we will see a much better design for the next F camera next year or Sony may roll out options like a much needed electronic viewfinder for starters.

If you shoot with the EX3 then the F3 is the perfect match for your workflow.

I have heard of this, however I don’t run a PC and I own CS4 but never use PP4. I do have a friend who told me that switching to Windows 7 cleared his play back problem. I think you need to ask the guys here in the Adobe Premier Pro forum

I went to the unavailing of the F3 here in LA at the USC campus and saw some short films the students shot and it was being projected with a 4k projector and I must say for the most part it looked very good. I think the biggest argument is going to be on the technical side as this ships with a 4:2:0 codec, and we don’t know the cost of the 4:2:2 or the duel link options and what the new SR recorder/media costs will be.

IMO the F3 is NOT a Red. The F3 is intended for the digital film maker on a shoestring budget as it ships, or as a 2nd/3rd camera with all the options for a feature film. The biggest difference is it doesn’t shoot RAW and I actually like this because it means the DP is once again the person in charge of the look of the image.

The F3 will be the hottest selling camera of 2011.

I have been using the M&R adapter with transcend 16 gig class 6 cards for a few years on days that require nonstop shooting and I trust these cards, however there are limitations to them. Early firmware versions did allow the use of these adapters but if you stopped recording you had to wait for the camera to finish recording to the card before you could start to record another clip, and if you didn’t the camera would send an error message.

Whatever card you choose make sure to properly test it, and only use it when you need it. I use the Nano Flash and duel record with the camera to ensure my data. I have been recommending this workflow for two reasons, it ensures you will have the video you shot and the Nano will allow you to go beyond the limits of the cameras compression with extremely affordable Compact Flash media. Less compression means better HD.
