We’ve had trouble with G-Tech drives. I’ve found that Glyph makes the best external hard drives.

    Thanks,

Yes it appears to find the same incorrect permissions each time. They look to be minor issues, things with User Templates, Front Row and iTunes.

No one seems to be having any significant issues other than printing but I figured after running a big update it would be a good idea.

    Thanks for all the responses.

    Thanks,

Repairing from the install disc did not work, I’ll try the Leopard Cache Cleaner and report back. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for the quick response.

I was always under the impression that you’re supposed to repair permissions while booted from the disk that contains OS X that you’re trying to repair, but I’ll certainly give it a shot booted from the install disc.

    Thank you.

    Thanks,

I appreciate the quick response. Yes the audio is set to follow the video. It happens at random which obviously makes it more difficult to diagnose.

    Thanks,

Morgan it sounds like when you changed permissions you made your scratch disk read only somehow. Check the permissions specifically on the folder where you have your scratch disk. Make sure it’s read write for you and other users on that machine.

    Thanks,

October 15, 2008 at 7:13 pm in reply to: How to get arond this “General Error”

We see this general error often enough at our facility, its typically a picture file or piece of captured media that is read only. Try rendering the timeline in sections and see what part fails. Get info on each clip in that area and make sure it’s read write.

    Thanks,
    Mike

September 16, 2008 at 8:42 pm in reply to: H264 compression…the same only different

Ken Stone has an in depth article on exporting using H.264 codec. Just google Ken Stone h 264 to find it.

    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Check your sequence settings too, specifically your aspect ratio, pixel aspect ratio and Compressor settings. I’ve noticed weirdness like that too with an external monitor and those settings were changed incorrectly.

    Thanks,
    Mike
