    I’m cornfused.
I have XDCam Transfer 2.9.0 (rom the “about” screen). is that way old or am I current? I hardly use it as a standalone and usually transfer within FCP (v7.0.3).

Thanks…I didn’t realize it was an order of magnitude.
Does anyone know what the price of the 64G Pro cards will be?
    Best,

September 30, 2010 at 11:30 pm in reply to: Direct Copying of SxS Media

At the end of every shoot, I use ShotPut Pro to copy files to my back up hard drive and to the client’s media (usually a USB drive). After the transfer is complete-ShotPut Pro compares the files to make sure the copies are correct as it transfers-I pull the SxS card from my MacBook Pro and spot check both copies using EX Clip Browser. Before ShotPut and Clip Browser, I would open the files and “prove” that they worked in Final Cut. That was a pain. It just takes a few minutes to do a spot check as one would do with tape. That workflow has worked fine thus far. I have a 32Gig and 3 16 gig cards. I also have the SxS adapter with SDHC, but haven’t used them on pro shoots…I bring them along as back up in case I really go overboard shooting. So far I haven’t needed them.
It’s been said here that sometimes invisible files may be copied if you just use drag and drop to get the BPAV folder on the drives, so this is a good seatbelt workflow so far.

After calling the Sony I was able to re-set the camera to factory presets and this seems to have solved the problem (so far). The 15030 error is a system fault and could mean the camera needs to be checked at the shop, but hopefully this will not be the case and was just a glitch.
I’ll report further if anything happens, but hopefully that’s it.
By the way, I have to say that the technician was knowledgeable and extremely helpful…This is what professionalism is all about.

I’ve done some further testing. This problem affects the HDMI as well as the HDSDI output.
It doesn’t bother the recording process to cards, however. It looks like I’ll be calling Sony tomorrow.
Hopefully they’ll guide me through a re-set. If anybody else is experiencing output problems, I’d like to hear about it.

I also use the HDSDI output to record to a Ki Pro, so this is important. One interesting thing that I discovered this evening is that audio passes through (at least on the HDMI output). What does that mean? I thought audio was embedded in the video.

Not hell yet as far as I can tell. Thanks for the advice…Just in case I’ve got an EX-1 as back up tomorrow. I think I’ll bring it along. I’ll call Sony tomorrow.

    To answer my own question:
According to another post Jon Thorn, product manager has said that they are testing cards and will have a list at product launch.

August 4, 2010 at 2:23 pm in reply to: PMW-350 side Video Out Port?

    Thanks. That’s what I thought.
What we discovered was that the color phase of the SD composite signal has no relationship with the color phase of the HD/SDI signal and not knowing that required a re-do of a base-line camera set up… It was a gotcha we should have anticipated, but unfortunate. I have always used the HD/SDI out for monitoring, but now I understand how it can be used as a second monitor, but not a “test out.” as in the older cameras in that form-factor.

I have a UPS power supply which I ALWAYS use when recording in the field with the KiPro.
