  • On the Capture side, I dont’ think this is a blackmagic issue. Apparently, if you want to capture to ProRes, you have to have a MacPro. This was mentioned in the FCP forum, but not here. here’s the page from apple: https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305582.
All of you guys having issues with playback, are you all on ProRes? I’m having trouble following all the posts.

Hey Morgster, what kind of machine/RAM do you have? Have you tried copying and pasting everything from your old sequence to a new one? That seemed to work for some people who have upgraded their projects to 6.

I’ve been a lurker for a while so this is my first post. I was looking around at the new preferences in FCP 6 and I saw this one called “always scale clips to sequence size”. Its in the user prefs, editing tab.
I turned this off and my SD clip was not scaled when I edited it into my DV timeline. The clip’s center parameter is shifted -1.
This seems to be what you want FCP to do, correct? or am I missing something?

  • Where did you get the 5.1 surround file from? what format is it? Have you tried other surround files in compressor?

    thx

  • So this happens when you re-render your frame? Have you trashed your render files and tried again? Maybe there is some sort of render conflict with the old version of FCP and 5.1.2.
What version of FCP did you create this project in? How many times have you upgraded it?

    thx,

  • Also make sure that you use the Frame Controls. That turns on the same kind of processing that Shake does, but with an easier to use interface IMHO.

    HI Chawla,

from what I understand, 1080p24HDV and 720p24HDV are actually based on 29.97 timecode. So what you want to do is change your easy setup to 1080i60 or 720p30, import the batch list, then switch your easy setup back to 720p24 or 1080p24, then do your capture.

Let me know if that works for you, but that is what makes sense in my tiny brain. 🙂

  • have you guys tried reinstalling the avid codecs after you take them out? That seemed to help for me.

  • Hi Daniel,

There is a setting you can turn off in the User Preferences called Sync Audio to Video if Present. This will change the audio rate if it sees a fluctuation in the signal. I have always turned this off when I capture with Canon cameras because the audio and video fluctuate so much. Try that out and let me know if you audio rate stays constant.

    thx

if you change the data rate to “best quality 90 min” preset, does that help?
