It’s a big gripe of mine too. Even in R13, I can’t find out statistics for my various machines to see how they performed.

Yeah I know, but it will only build that .aec based on the current project setup and duration for output. If you have multiple cameras spanning different durations it can get confusing. In R12 it would give you an aec for each render in your net render queue which was really handy for multi-cam projects.

Is Open Sesame out yet. I can’t find it on Aescripts and could really use it for a project. Any word on it?
    Thanks in advance,

April 10, 2011 at 2:13 pm in reply to: CS5 and ProRes 4444 alpha channels

I’ve got another thing to add with this issue. I have a “4-color-gradient” applied to a solid and animated the opacity from 100 to 0. With the 4444 alpha render, there is no alpha channel created. There must be a bug with 4 Color Gradient and Prores4444 cause it renders the alpha fine in Animation codec but registers no alpha in prores4444 – even with Adobe’s workaround applied for alpha in 4444 and version 10.0.1

You’d think by now in CS5 you could do this. Has anyone created a script or something to make this work? I’d love to autosave to a specific drive rather than right next to my aep file.

Thanks Joe. Forgot about the magic of Prores4444. I had trouble exporting 4 channels out of FCP using QT conversion, but same as source works like a charm. Thanks!

  • I ended up upgrading to 9.02 (I’m CS4) and that seems to have solved it. However, I would say that I developed the habit of selecting files and double clicking effects to add them rather than dragging them onto the layer. I’ve also limited myself to using standard importing methods to get footage into the project, rather than dragging from finder. Annoying, but works.

  • If you are animating a shape like drawing it on, use trim paths. Otherwise animate the path property of the shape and only move the points of the shape you want to move.

  • If you have cs4, try using the shape tool to create a shape and add “trim paths” to it. You can keyframe start and end.
