You can create the effect by using the CC Vignette on a white solid and setting the mode to “Color Burn” – Then adjust the opacity to the desired darkness.

  • If Dan Ebberts ever decides to stop being helpful, all of the motion graphics community will crumble. Thank you so much sir! I don’t think you can comprehend what your contribution has done for me and after effects users around the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

so to do this you need your null exactly in the position of the shape x y and z. Then parentage null layer it like normal to the shape layer (not the shape). Then, alt click on the position value of the null. Then pick whip to the position of the shape (not the layer).

I know it’s old, but thank you Janet for being the one person who actually properly read the question and provided the solution. Was helpful for me today. Sometimes we overlook the helpful posts that get lost in the LaRonde bombast.

July 28, 2015 at 8:13 pm in reply to: Ram Preview Delay after upgrade

    Thanks Todd,
After day 1 working in the new AE,
the period button does work, but it no longer will advance the time marker if there is no audio. Sometimes it’s helpful to hit period to advance your timeline in realtime so you can time things out without audio.

    And while we’re at it:
Guide layers don’t work if an adjustment layer containing Posterize Time effect is above it.
There’s some bug that happens when you hit space bar to manipulate a mask point position. (upon releasing the space bar/hand tool, it gets stuck)
Keyframes still “stick” to your mouse when you try to move them in the timeline.
    Still no icon render bar.

I’ll put in bug reports later this evening, but thought they were worth mentioning.

    Thanks again,
    Michael

I should revise that. In 2015 the Video does start properly, but the audio still has the delay. Also, just doing the period button creates a delay. I was able to solve that problem by deselecting “Mute Audio When Preview is Not real-time” in the Previews Preferences and also changing “preview favors” to length.

  • Perfect. Thanks!!

Thanks for the reply and info. I had read this from OWC

“Unlike many/some SSDs on the market today, the Mercury family uses advanced DuraWriteâ„¢ wear-leveling and block management technologies to keep Read/Write performance at peak levels while others see performance fall.

Some of the drive space in OWC SSDs are allocated for RAISE – which provides real time data redundancy, ECC Error Correction, and reserve cell space.

Example: An OWC Mercury Electra SSD that’s 240GB in size is actually a 256GB drive with 7% allocated for data management, and to maintain the SSD’s high-performance “

    RE: https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/PCIe/OWC/Mercury_Accelsior/RAID
    Is that just sales mumbo-jumbo?
