  • Using only one channel of audio

I know this may be an easy question, but I’m stumped. I work with sports clips that have announcer track on channel 1 and game nats on channel 2. How do I get AE to use only one channel? I’ve tried the stereo balance filter and the audio tool, but the audio is always mixed together on both tracks. I’m using AE CS3 on an Intel Mac. Thanks.

I’m feeling very dense at the moment. How do I pan the audio in After Effects? Thanks.

Thanks for your help. I’ve already adjusted the audio using the left and right faders. I guess my problem is that After Effects appears to be mixing both of my channels when it imports the Quicktime movies. I have discrete audio channels outside of AE, but both channels appear mixed in After Effects. Am I importing my quicktimes incorrectly?

I’m pretty sure the person who posted the question originally doesn’t need the response anymore, but in case someone else does, you go to effects and add the “stereo mixer” effect. Then use the left and right pan to adjust it to one channel or the other. Hope this helps!

I know it’s old, but thank you Janet for being the one person who actually properly read the question and provided the solution. Was helpful for me today. Sometimes we overlook the helpful posts that get lost in the LaRonde bombast.
