I noted that Disk Warrior will not allow me to rebuild the directories on my system drive so I assume I’m to rebuild the directories of each drive connected at the time of the kernal panic. Is there a way to identify which drives were involved with the kernal panic or best to just rebuild directory of each drive.
Thanking you in advance for your help.

FYI, my second Keranl Panic in the past week. I had just turned on the system and began to view clips when it hit. As mentioned earlier the system has been running very good with lots of HDV at ProRes and the only new addition to computer and project is the new Matrox MXO2MAX. I just checked the MXO2 software version and web site and all is up to date.
Based on advice recieved last week I’ve run disk utility, verify and repair permissions of which listed issues, anything else I should be doing to avoid Kearnel Panic?
Does it make since to uninstall and reinstall Matrox Software?

Thanks everyone for chiming in on my recent problem, everything is under control, for now.
I must say I like this site much better than that other one where they don’t actually help as much as they ask endless questions and then make statements like “why did you do that” or my favorite “why would you ever use that much storage”.
I must also say it’s too funny looking at the picture of who’s offering advice; Shane with his suspicious eye, Baz looking like he might of a past due rocker, Walter and his babe, Rafael and baby and Neil with his “Oh My” expression. Look at these to see if you agree, whatever your take is it will certainly be insight into your personality.
To be fair about all of this I’ve posted my photo, what can I say my work gets a little messy sometimes.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the heads up and tip on cleaning up the KEARNEL mess.
I’ve been on FCP for 7 years now and must of been pretty lucky with past systems and problems cause I’m still learning about things like this.

So that’s a KERNAL panic, just prior to that my MX02 started acting up or at least I think it was the MX02, the video which had been playing just fine all day began to stutter during playback. I tried changing playback settings with no luck so decided to shut down for dinner and when I restarted everything played fine.
Yes, when I restarted everything is fine with exception to lost work and no recent auto save which is kinda strange.

The environment was a road/off road trip through PA, OH, MI and no doubt these were harsh conditions although the tapes were kept in a clean environment and free from dust, dirt, heat, etc. I’ve shot this same type event numerous times the past dozen years and expect there to be a few casualties along the way, I can usually identify any problems that arise or link it to a faulty camera, etc.
The puzzling part is this, more than 60-hours footage shot and Tape 1 of 13 from the Z1U and Tape 13 of 20, just a section of tape, on the V1U has problems. If something was wrong with the cameras I think more tapes would display this problem.
If it is an interchange problem, if the tape is not playing across the heads correctly is there a company or service or method for checking and correcting this by cloning the tape?

FF & REWing now although I’ve had this tape in/out and shuttled so much looking for an image I won’t hold much hope. Since I did not see anything in my FCP capture window I didn’t bother with NTSC monitor, but since I just received my new FSI 17″ monitor I’ll put it to work to see if it displays an image.
Thanks

All Sony MiniDV Digital Cassettes, HDM-63VG.
Recorded in 2 different cameras, Sony Z1U and Sony V1U, 1 problem tape from the Z1U and 1 from one of the V1U. The Z1U is throughout the entire tape 1 of 15 and the V1U a section of Tape 13 of 23.
Tapes did not get wet although the humidity was high the days we were shooting, none of the cameras indicated humidity warning.
Tapes were always kept in clean environment and the shoot ended July 14 so they’ve had plenty of time to adapt to climate.
The tape looks clean as a whistle and I’ve tried head cleaner.

I can’t tell you exactly how to do it but look at Soundtrack Pro. I remember seeing a demo at NAB a few years ago and they were able to process out a walkie talkie that was squelching in the background, in that same demo they were also able to reduce and unwanted motorboat sound.

I prefer not to swap cables but considering the price point I’ll deal with it, also curious if any company makes a SDI A/B switch?
My Beta SP requires reference, or at least that’s what I have do with my AJA I/O of which I just use the composite out and guess I could do same with MX02.
I guess the last question is where to get best prices, B&H for MXO2 and shopfsi.com for the monitor? Can’t find anyone else selling the FSI on the web?
Thanks for all your help.
