I assume it’s the old software version but I’m not able to prove it just yet as I’m working to beat the clock and forced to continue with manual output before I loose he HDCAM VTR.
If time permits I’ll test the TC Jam Sync to SDI TC before the deck disappears.

FYI – most likely an MX02 software problem, I just figured out there was an update Oct 29 and my driver is a bit older than that.
Also finally found a free HDW-1800 manual online and discovered this feature;
To synchronize with the LTC data contained in an HDSDI signal input to this unit: • Set F1 (TCG SRC) to “SDI IN”. • Set F2 (TCG MODE) to “RGN:LTC”.
To synchronize with the VITC data contained in an HDSDI signal input to this unit: • Set F1 (TCG SRC) to “SDI IN”. • Set F2 (TCG MODE) to “RGN:VITC”.Unfortunately I did not find all this till too late and in the middle of my 2-hr manual output and I loose this HDCAM VTR in another hour or so. Oh well, this is a delivered DVD project and the tape is so someone else can repurpose for broadcast so no biggie. I also maintain QT’s so next time I have a HDCAM deck I’ll output with accurate timeline TC.

yep, need to do that. I loose this deck in about 5 hours and have 4 hours of output so not much time for trouble shooting.
Manual output is working just fine although I hate delivering masters with random timecode, prefer to have it match the timeline. How about my question about making HDW-1800 timecode generator jam sync to SDI input?

I’ve returned from my road trip and checking the settings you asked about.
Did turning off “Audio Scrubbing” in the View menu help?’>Did turning off “Audio Scrubbing” in the View menu help?
I just turned off Audio Scrubbing, although I like to use audio scrubbing especially when editing dialog.In Final Cut Pro choose View > Video Playback.
Select the Matrox MXO2 setting that matches your project’s sequence setting.This is my current setting;
Clips: 1440×1080, 29.97fps, aspect ratio HD (1440×1080) (16:9)
Compressor: Apple ProRes 422Sequence: 1440 x 1080 HD (1440×1080) (16:9), 29.97
Compressor: Apple ProResI believe these settings to be correct and will see if turning off “Audio Scrubbing” helps, do we expect that to also correct the jittery video problem I described.

On the road this week and will double check those settings when I return to the office.
Thank you.

Mac OS X ver 10.5.8
FCP 6.0.6I’ve also had problems with distorted audio on the RCA out to my Mackie 1402, use this for monitoring only. Having problems with a stuttered playback, SDI out to FSI 17″ Monitor SDI In. This happens often when I playback/stop/playback quickly and is corrected when I stop, wait a second or two and playback again. My time line is ProRes working with Sony HDV. Any thoughts about this.

FYI, didn’t seem to matter if I waited for the Apple Chime or not, just got the white screen and never the Apple Logo despite several attempts. I’ll check with Alsoft to see what’s up with that.
Aside from the 2 Kernal Panics this past week the system has been working just fine, I know that’s like saying I feel just fine for except this headache. I was simply trying to do the maintenance recommended in hopes of avoiding further problems.
I managed to rebuild the system disk on my Mac Intel desktop system by using my Intel Core 2 Duo Laptop by following these directions found on DW site. Connected it via FW, started the desktop in Target mode, Laptop recognized updated DW Disk and executed the Rebuild.
Once again thanks for your patience and your help.

I’ve updated my DW per Rafael suggestion although I just realized I used a DVD instead of a CD although DW web site reported new disc is completed. After trying to boot from that disk, holding C while restarting, I still get the white screen and the apple logo never appears, or at least does not appear after 5 or 6 minutes.
Did I screw up with the DVD instead of CD? I have 2 DVD drives, does it matter if I use the top or bottom CD drive?
I’m heading to lunch and will try again to restart while holding the C key and if Apple Logo does not appear I’ll leave it sit thinking while at lunch.

Yes, thank you, I edit better than I read instructions and have been blessed with trouble free system, till now. I can be very patient while editing for months at a time, but when it comes to trouble shooting I grow impatient quickly, I’ll work on that.
I wasn’t following the directions properly, I was attempting to use the DW installed on my system drive and since then I’ve pulled my DW Disk but my system will not reboot from the DW in my CD drive. I’ve tried Restarting and holding down the C key for at least 5-minutes with no luck. I’ve tried using SysPref Startup Disc and after waiting up to 10-min I get nothing but the white screen. Shall I wait longer for it boot from DW.
I’m using CD Rev. 41, I’ll spend some time at the Alsoft site and if anyone has a quick answer I appreciate it.
