Thank you, the name Matrox is a familiar one – a blast from the past for me. My x-company, Big Sky Post & Productions, purchased a D-Vision in the mid 90’s because of price point and we used it to show linear clientele the way to non-linear or at least non-linear off-line. Eventually bought a few Avids, Discreet Smoke, Flint, etc. and retired the linear bay. OF course now for less than 20K your in business with lots less wires.

The MX02 has just 2 channels Audio In, some of the work I do requires 4-Channel analog from Beta SP archival with split tracks, any work around? Using my 18-year old BVW-70, darn thing just keeps working. Also using DSR-80 with SDI and I see the MX02 has just 1 SDI in, is there a SDI A/B switch? Does the MXO2 require Gen Lock and does it have a black burst out for my Beta SP.

Thanks for the info and I’ll continue my research in the meantime can you tell me if Matrox is the same company that use to sell the D-Vision edit system in the late 90’s?

    Thanks for the tips.

I thought I’d digitize via FW in Pro Res (not HQ), I understand the benefit of Raid 5 but not in the budget for now. I’ll add my 1.25GB ESATA via HDMI connection and FW800 drives as need.

    Am I crazy?

Another problem I’ve encountered is importing the Sony MC-1 AVCHD, it does not play smoothly and appears to jump back to a previous frame every 15 frames. I can literally edit out the 1 frame each 15 frames and it plays smoothly.

I converted several AVCHD files while in the field on my Mac Intel Core Duo Laptop and those play just fine while the AVCHD files I convert on my Desk Top Intel via FCP Log and Transfer display the problem.
