  • Guys,

It is possible, you will want to look up “Folder Actions” in Finder. From there, depending on what you want to do, you could use Automator to call QT Pro too encode. Good luck. More people should think about these types of automatic scripted options to help out workflow pains and manage time. If you have multiple computers, and you could install compressor on the others, you might think about Qmaster like Mark is talking about to save time.

So this problem doesn’t occur when the iO is not connected? Are you viewing through an external monitor? Have you trashed the FCP preferences? Any other iO prefs? Does this happen with other users?

yeah, all you technically need is enough space, but i might suggest partitioning the drive in two so you can have a seperate useable volume too.

ok, stop overthinking this. set up the first deck like normal, using rs-422 9-pin vtr control. route the sdi out of that deck to the in on the second. now also route the rs-422 of the first deck out to the in of the second. now you have video, audio, and TC. on page 2 of the menu for the second deck, set TC in to RP188. This is the setup for a frame-accurate, on the fly crash clone. once your first deck starts recording, which should be in black, press rec-play on the second, and there you go, done.

  • Yeah, use render manager or the finder to delete any/all render files and re-render.

Actually, I have found the J-30 to be a great ingestion deck, I usually run no less than a dozen for straight offlineRT digitizing and have very few problems, even with timecode. With the Kona card, you can even use the J-30 for uprezzing if you want via SDI. I have grown to appreciate the deck for what it is worth and I would recommend it for your task. Only when ready, get the MSW to output and save yourself a lot of cash…relatively of course…
