Most of these were edited in AVID not Resolve. Many graded perhaps but certainly not edited. The bulk of big films are AVID with some Premiere and a few now Resolve.

I’m proudly 62 and refuse to be wooed by gimmicks like editing, mixing or grading on a laptop in a cafe. I love dedicated control panels and proper monitoring, rack mounted powerful computers I build myself and post environments that translate to cinema, home theatre, web & phone.
Tasmanian devils are carnivorous marsupials (pouched). They have the greatest mammal bite strength to size ratio. They are wild creatures and critically endangered, suffering from a spread of a rare transmissible facial tumour disease. I don’t own one but when I was living up the road on a 40 acre farm we had one living in a nearby gully.
They don’t sound much like Mel Blanc’s cartoon character but they do have a sound that made the early colonists think there were devils under the floorboards.

Resolve lets you share timelines and projects across the internet. I’ve not used it but I know the functionality exists. It also enables VFX, colorist & sound post people to collaborate as well so grades can be built during the edit etc.
Not sure how AVID collaboration works. There may be a way to make hack an FCPX collaboration but my understanding is it is not designed like AVID & Resolve for that.

I’m in a one hundred year old cottage in a country town at the bottom of the earth in Tasmania and I have all my computers rack mounted in a machine room, cabled through to the control room. If still makes sense to have all the gear together and patchable. My obsolete HDCam and Digibeta are still cabled in the bottom of the rack.

Yes BM use FPGA cards in their cameras and it is indeed why they have been able to be updated in the field to new codecs. A laptop and USB cable is all you need to update new software that does indeed add new functionality.
FPGA capability was one of the IP gifts that Fairlight brought to BM. Fairlight have been using FPGAs for over 14 years. They are not power hungry.

My guess is your graphic card or driver is incompatible. Resolve, like all modern NLEs does need decent GPU power to operate, which is why Blackmagic have a compatibility list. As soon as you try to use it on non supported OS and with under powered old GPU or with old drivers, it might not work.

One of the reasons I switched to PC from Mac is their lack of support for NVIDIA. I don’t know the specs of that RAEDON card but I do know I would prefer to run Resolve on NVIDIA graphics.

Resolve is up to version 16 and it has vastly improved since 11. I would not consider using version 11 and Win 7.
The edit side of 11 was poor as was real time performance so you are comparing Premiere to Resolve when it was a Color grade program with basic edit functionality, almost no audio capability. You are wasting your time in my opinion.

I agree Oliver that declaring ProResRAW superior is not necessarily true. If both achieve lossless compression and one has been proven to be better for older hardware, then it suggests R3D is in fact superior. I’ve not had practical experience with ProResRAW on a Win PC but I have with R3D and BRAW and it is hard to imagine it is a better codec. I hope Resolve will be able to read it however and that Apple reciprocate with BRAW support in X.
