You must have a clip in the timeline that stops the render. You need to sort out what it is to try and fix it. Try rendering sections by marking In/Outs to identify the problem. This is something I have encounted in all NLEs

It’s not going to render. Stop, reboot, try again.

Resolve uses GPU to accelerate when possible. The default render settings are to go as fast as possible so it will speed up and slow down depending on the processing required and the available resources. Codecs, denoising etc make the render speeds vary.

Export the clip out without a grade and look at it in FCPX. Is it actually different. Brent is right. If you are using the computer display and comparing the way two NLEs approximate the image, you are going to think there is a problem.
Resolve is designed to pass the correct signal via a Decklink card to a calibrated external monitor. Using the computer monitor to make a judgement is always likely to yield variable results. And who knows which one is closest to correct – FCPX or Resolve. Probably neither

Can you render it to any other codec like DNx? Where are you rendering the H264 to. Is it a thumb drive with a format that limits file sizes to 4gig?
If you can get it to render to another codec, then use that file to make the h264

I’m taking advantage of the % off which surprisingly in Australia seems greater than the US deal as it includes tax & delivery. I don’t know what Black Friday is all about or why it applies in Australia but it is the best time to buy gear and software here too.
I’ll let you know how it goes with Resolve. USBc & 3 ports are handy as I have the computers in a machine room.

It’s been ten years since I bought my last Apple product and with the re-release of cheesgrater grunt, Apple give me another compelling reason to continue to ignore their hardware and OS.
I have had a dream run with NVIDIA and Resolve since switching to PC and this is not going to help Apple trying to win back people and facilities like me. I’m sure they don’t really care and that’s fine. What was once an imperative for my business is now an ignore-able option.

I switched to Affinity. I think it is a good replacement and similar to drive. It even let me install plugins like NIK and open old Photoshop projects perfectly.

I dropped Apple years ago. I’d rather support NVIDIA frankly.
