Good comprehensive and fair review as always Oliver. In my world I’m seeing a stampede from Pr to Resolve and further movement away from FCPX. The reasons are clear for many editors and film makers. Resolve is far more stable and better featured than Pr. Editors are also finding that the shuffle from their NLE to Resolve happens anyway for finishing work. I have retired my standalone Fairlight and now use the version built into Resolve. This has been enormously helpful in reducing both computers and program switching.
FCPX was never much of a player in my circle of clients but with many film maker friends jumping into BRAW with BM cameras FCPX is a no go zone. I’m still to see ProRes RAW on any jobs. With BRAW I’m also seeing less and less ProRes camera files of any type. Those editors have also discovered that being able to layer audio clips on a track works better than magnetic timeline in avoiding overwriting audio and in fact that clip layering in Fairlight is a really powerful way to create cleaned up dialog tracks and vastly reduce track numbers. This then flows onto better use of track and bus based plugins.
So lately I have been doing day courses to get editors familiar with Resolve and complete their migration. Once they see how jumping between pages for specific tasks and the power on the Color page they just wonder why they wasted a year of subscriptions to Adobe when they could have bought Resolve Studio for life
