That’s the thing, the media wasn’t offline as far as FCP was concerned. It was that the quicktime files, when opened in quicktime, had the red “media offline” image there.

Does it go all black when you zoom out, too. Looks like we have the exact same setup.

Yes, I’m aware of that. The question is whether or not the two of us should even be able to open the same project file at the same time. For example, if he opens the project, edits for three hours and I open it, make one change, and save it and he, say, crashes, I would have over written his project. Shouldn’t I not even be able to open the project if he has it open?

Should that be checked? I just upgraded to 5.1.2 and am concerned about whether I jumped the gun on it.

Word has it that the imminent release of 5.1.2 will be able to support it natively. Not sure when it will drop though. Supposedly in the very near future, though.

Oh! Nevermind! MPEG Streamclip (squared5) is doing the job beautifully.

Put the text on a second layer, and mess around with the transfer modes.

Now here’s a weird thing. Built the project again and burned it on a Quad G5 and it worked fine. I used Sony DVD-Rs. Built the disc image and then burned it through Disc Utility at 4x (I couldn’t figure out how to set a burn speed in DVDSP4). But it’s working now.

I’m told that it’s going into something called a “Hippo”. We’re outputting multiple m2v’s that will play over multiple screens for a concert this week. It’s the usual telephone game from client to producer to creative. All I know for sure is that that’s the specs for what they want delivered. Have you ever heard of a “Hippo”? Preliminary google searches turned up nothing.

I can say without a doubt that it won’t. The Canon tapes can only be played in Canon cameras. We have some of the JVC’s here and they wouldn’t play it.
