I like the Sony FX1000 for the money and it will be good in low light. The only drawback is that an adaptor will have to be used to get XLR inputs.

If you add these Hitachi 750gb SATA drives and stripe them as Raid 0, how much speed will you get? Somewhere in the area of 200MB/s?

So all you have to do to encode is import the SCM (self contained movie)into toast and create the blue ray disc?

Does the SCM out of FCP need to be a prores file or can it be any format?

Does toast do a good job of encoding your prores files? Is the image quality where it should be?

Is this true, I think the MacPro comes with 2gig of ram. I told the rep that I wanted 8gig of ram. So, I guess that he added 2 then 4 to get a total of eight. Is this a problem?

With the price of large (32″-42″) 1080P LCD monitors dropping rapidly, I suspected that a few editors might have made the move to editing on a large display. I was a little curious to hear a few opinions about what it was like in comparison to the traditional dual screen setup.

So it all comes down to preference. What I am hearing is that there is no technical reason to use dual screens over a single monitor. So the performance of the Mac will be effected equally when using one screen or two for displaying multiple applications at once. Good to know, I needed to make sure that there was no technical reason to use two monitors other than preference.

I guess $500 is a good deal but how does this answer my question?

I have run into problems with the audio and video getting out of sync. when using the component in on my Kona LHe. Aja suggested a black burst generator to keep this from occuring. is this normal, does it ever happen to others using the aja card?

    Thanks for your response Herb,

Cinema display is not an option, however the Blackmagic Decklink Studio may be. Do you have experience with it? Is the quality satisfactory? What are the downsides to using this in FCP 6?

I can see there are many options for sale from various manufacturers, however I am looking for advise from professionals who own or use these tools on a day to day basis, otherwise I can read the marketing hype, but the hype is what I am trying to avoid.
