January 15, 2012 at 2:41 am in reply to: Encore CS3 “General Error”

I have tried to author the same project since 10 pm last night. No success 12 hours later. Previously, I get the ‘General Error’ halfway thru the authoring. Now, I get it even after I re-start the PC and starting a new slate of Encore.

And even after I click the ‘ok’ button to acknowledge, the darn message keep coming up, even after i repeatedly click ok. Seems like some serious bug.

And I’m using the latest CS5.5 production premium. I believe I have done all the necessary updates. Does anyone have a fix for this? This Production Premium 5.5 is driving me crazy…

  • Same problem here. Really need some help. Looks like I have to fall back to Powerdirector to do the job if I still can’t find a solution to this bug.

  • I’ve been trying for the past 4 hours trying to get the DVD authored and half-painstakingly through twice an error was generated.

I did a ‘check project’ and everything reported fine.

However, this irritating error keep popping out when I went to the Timelines tab: On the tab shows 2 timelines and ….Default Not Set.

i figured it may be something I need to transcode, but the options are greyed out.

As this is my first time using encore, I may be doing something wrong, but I have followed the tutorials accordingly and this error shouldnt be appearing.

Does anyone else have this same problem and how do I resolve this?

  • I have the same error message: with CS5.5 production suite.

    1st time using Encore:

Had the workflow all set up in Encore but had realised I had accidentally moved or deleted one of the .mov files.

had ‘located transcoded file’ but still the ‘Requested functionality not yet implemented’ pops out…

January 11, 2012 at 12:13 pm in reply to: Lights won’t work in after effects

I got the same problem. Created a light, spotlight, but the whole screen turns black and I only see the 3D light gadget (x,y,z axis). All my other layers disappear.

Only in ‘Ambient light’ where the rest of the other photos/layers appear.

    – I am using CS5.5
    – Draft 3d disabled.
    – 76 photos (1200 x 800px)
    – No videos
    – 1/3 playback resolution

I see the tutorials where the creator makes it look so easy. Create new spotlight, and the scene gets illuminated accordingly. I did the exact same thing and everything blacks out.

Would appreciate any advice for this AE noob? many thanks.

  • Hi,

I’ve got the exact same problem. Doing some trimming but the audio keyframes refuse to move in tandem, a small problem with a big headache. Tried changing option to clip instead of timeframe but then I lose the ability to set keyframes.

    Hi,

After fiddling around for hours, I found the solution, re-posting just in case some newbie like myself have the same problem.

You have to exit Premiere Pro and re-start Premiere Pro to have that elusive microphone icon to appear. Apparently if you install the microphone halfway during yr PP session, the microphone icon is missing.

    I have the same problem:

    CS 5.5 using premiere pro.
    microphone recognised by my PC.
    clicked ‘record’ button
    clicked ‘play’
Error message comes up: “You cannot record without enabling at least one track for recording”.

I must be missing something here. Can some kind soul advise?
    Thank u.

    December 21, 2011 at 10:49 am in reply to: AE CS 5 Cant open/export QuickTime (Win 7 – 64bit)

I’ve got the same problem with CS 5.5 AE. I tried to import some .mov files to work on but it gives me an instant error “After Effects error: Cant’ import file “abc.mov”: unsupported filetype or extension (0::1)

I have CS 5.5 production suite, using AE.

    – AMD 1100 6 cores
    – GTX 560 ti
    – 16 gb ram
    – Windows 7
    – Quicktime 7.7.1

I’m new to AE but I believe .mov are pretty standard file formats so I don’t understand why I cannot import .mov files to AE. Can some kind soul share some advise? Many thanks.
