May 27, 2010 at 1:44 pmExactly what are you doing, and exactly what does After Effects do and tell you?

June 1, 2010 at 4:30 am..and i forgot to mention, it when i start after effects, it takes very long time
it’s like stuck with “Initializing MediaCore” so i guess there is something wrong with
the Quicktime / MediaCore
There is a way to reset the preferences… ?

August 10, 2010 at 8:43 pmHi Todd,
Has Adobe come up with a proper solution to this issue? I can’t start CS5 in my user account, but when I create a new user I have no problem starting CS5.

December 21, 2011 at 10:49 amI’ve got the same problem with CS 5.5 AE. I tried to import some .mov files to work on but it gives me an instant error “After Effects error: Cant’ import file “abc.mov”: unsupported filetype or extension (0::1)
I have CS 5.5 production suite, using AE.
– AMD 1100 6 cores
– GTX 560 ti
– 16 gb ram
– Windows 7
– Quicktime 7.7.1I’m new to AE but I believe .mov are pretty standard file formats so I don’t understand why I cannot import .mov files to AE. Can some kind soul share some advise? Many thanks.

February 1, 2012 at 4:59 pmSame issue here and with a brand new fresh insatll of Win 7 Pro and CS 5.0 with all updates.
Seems AE cant handle .mov as source and export to another .mov
The UGLY workround is to export first to lossless AVI (dont forget to check audio output if needed). THEN import that AVI drop on new timeline and export to QT , also helps to select Edit > Purge> All to clear out any memory cache from RAM previews.Hope that helps
