    Hi,

    Thanks – it’s a moving shot, so I guess I’m out of luck 😉

    Hi Gang,

    Thanks for the replies.

    A bit of an update.
I’ve pulled out the two 256MB sticks. I’ve done a bit of work on the machine and I don’t know if it’s my imagination, but it does to be working a bit smoother, if not a teensy bit faster.

I think the OS & software is probably too wieldy for that old machine to handle HDV efficiently, so I’m happy to have bare-bones operation whilst we do a few short things on that machine.

    Thanks again for the input.

    Thanks Walter,

Any suggestions which, if any, I should remove first?

    Thanks,

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

Here is a screenshot of the RAM I have inserted.

Does this help? Should I pull out the 500MB?

    Hi,

Thanks – just to let you know that it appears as if izotope interfered with my Final Cut Pro causing it not to open.

I’m not sure if it was just me or the way the software embedded itself in my system, but just a word to the wise out there in case it happens to them.

That being said, the software looks like an awesome tool so I will have to figure out a way to work with it – maybe on a non-Mac/FCP system, or whatever.

Thanks again for the help, gents.

    Hi Tom & Co.

So I thought I’d feedback to let you know how my saga ended.

I took your advice, Tom, and reinstalled FCS.

Then, when I relaunced FCP I finally got a splash screen, and I noticed it was trying to read a program/plugin called, “iZotope” which is an audio correction program.

In fact, it’s a stand-alone program that sholdn’t have anything to do with FCP, so it didn’t even cross my mind when I was trying to think what I could have downloaded that would have caused FCP to cease to work.

So now I’ve thankfully got FC Studio back up and running and am about to see what kinds of havoc I’ve wrought with my plugins and other settings.

So, a word to the wise, beware of the “iZotope”.

    Thanks again for the help,

    Hi,

Me again, I’m wondering if I should use FCS Remover the remove the whole Studio package and then reinstall?

I’m a little wary of doing that in case it messes up any plug-ins or updates, and also if I’m missing a serial number somewhere –
or am I being too over cautious?

    Thanks,

    W

Thanks for the heads-up Peter, I’ll take a look at that software to see if I can get any joy out of it.

Appreciate the guidance for this unfortunate situation.

    Yours,

    Wayne
