Hi,

I find that putting these AU Filter settings on my clips cuts out the hiss.
Make some slight adjustments to suit your particular audio.

Thanks for the prompt replies, Gents –

I can’t recall the pro-deck I used, but I’ve also tried 2 Sony cameras.

With all three they play the tapes perfectly [ie, I get the video/audio in the monitor] – but it’s not recognized by FCP.

I’ll try hunt down a JVC HDV camera. Somehow.

It has a kind of electronic make-up feature build in [aka “Pop”] but it also has a few other powerful tools in the keyer that could help in your situation.
be sure to watch all the tutorial videos, especially the one about “cosmetics”.

Nice work, Walter!

It never ceases to amaze me how much impact a good grade can have on an image.

And we are really lucky, I guess, to have the plethora of affordable tools available to us these days.
I remember back in the ‘old day’ having to futz with the chroma & luma levels directly on the Beta SP deck in our AB roll edit suite to get more of a ‘punchy’ look, or just to brighten it up.
My, my, we sure have come far….;)

Good points. Personally, the features I’m most excited about are the HSL adjustments and “pop”.
I’m not working with Color yet, so this seems like it could get someone like me quite far on its own.
