I get this error if I have ‘Embed Color Profile’ checked on the ‘Color Management’ panel for the PNG output format.

Unchecking this makes them render out fine.

  • Thanks for that Walter. A penny just dropped for me after reading that. It’s cos it’s a layered PSD export. I get it. I just exported a jpeg and brought it back in and its identical to my comp. Of course the layered PSD export is a different process and yes the difference is the adj layer. Thanks for pointing that out. Lesson learned.

  • Thanks for your quick response Walter.

I can’t find anything in my comp that would not be available in Photoshop. There are no effects on the layers except a Curves adjustment layer above everything. And no transfer modes either.
Its a simple animation of a clients logo and branding.
So I need the colours to be true.
    Looks ok whilst in AE.
    It’s very odd.

Replying to myself again…I just wanted to put up what i have learned as it may help someone else…

SF (1080pSF) in this case means segmented frame.

“This technique allows for a progressive picture to be processed through the same electronic circuitry that is used to store, process and route interlaced video.”

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_segmented_frame

In case anyone else wants to know…

    HI..

I just went onto the AJA site and found this in their FAQ.

Q: The AJA playback setting in Premiere Pro is fixed at 1080i and I cannot change it to 1080p?
A: In the AJA playback setting window, check the “disable seqmented frames” checkbox. This will change the Kona video output from 1080i to 1080p. Note: The video output is 1080pSF when a 1080i playback setting is used with a progressive sequence.

This must be the only way to convert the sequence to 25 fps Progressive. ?

What would you say ” 1080pSF ” means?

Single Field or Single Frame ? Cos Single Field for a prog clip would in effect mean “half res” no?! And we don’t want that….

Any of your thoughts or experience with these settings and outputting with them would be very much appreciated.

    Many thanks…Max

    Hi..

Thanks for your help with this Mikhail and Shane…

I found the AJA Sequence Presets for New Sequences.
Either my machine needed a re-start or i just hadn’t seen them.

The available settings do seem a bit odd though. I want to edit HD at 25fps Progressive.
But there isn’t a setting for that. There is only 50fps or 25i and i don’t seem to be able to change the 25i sequence settings to progressive or the 50fps to 25..?

So any advice with that now would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks, best regards…Max

  • hi…

    I’ve sorted it….

I downloaded the latest version of Sony’s XDCAM HD import plug-in for fcp, which says it requires an Intel Mac and FCP7 on the site, and we are on FCP 6 and a Power PC which is why i had not used tried to use it already, but it installed and then read the clips straight away…TFFT!!!

    No worries….Max

  • thanks yikesmikes for that.

i did think that Dan Ebberts would have an expression that could help. i animated a ‘band’ playing music using expressions and ‘sound keys’ some time ago.

but i also thought it would get beyond my control – expression language wise.

i will try the expression you gave me.

i have solved my problem, had to get the job done, by just animating lots of different paths/routes for water particles/dots to take. and then duplicating the layers and off setting em over time + a little ‘wiggle’ now and then.

worx fine but not the neatest solution – particles would be.

thanks for your time and help though.
