  • Control a row of lights(emitters) to rotate together as an array.

    Hi..

I am using several lights as emitters for Particular – 1 effect using several light emitters named emitter1, 2, 3 etc. each is producing different coloured particles.

I have used the pick-whip to link the position of each light to the central one so i can control the position and path of the array with the central light. The rest are offset above and blow it along the Y axis by adding .value-[0,50etc,0] at the end of the pickwhip created expression. So i now have a vertical ‘line’ of lights/emitters.

Now this is where i am struggling – I want the ‘line/array’ to be able twist as it moves. Like if you spread the fingers of your hand and pretend to fly it around like a airplane- neeeaaaw.

How can i make it so the lights keep their relative position to the central ‘control’ light but can twist and turn as i animate the central ‘control’ light/emitter?

    Make sense…?

I really need to make this happen asap as its an effect for a big job at work. So i really appreciate any help you can offer.

    My best regards..Max

How about just parenting the lights to a 3D null (instead of using expressions to link them together) and rotating the null?
