    Hi d.

There is a setting within the Invigorator Preferences dialog that lets you set the shadow map size.
It defaults to something low, like 500×500 — but you can make it much larger, like 2000×2000.

To open the Invig Prefs dialog, do the following:
    – Select your Invig layer and open the Set-Up window.
    – Type ‘O’ to get into Object mode (or press the Object icon below the 3D preview window).
    – In the tab below the 3D preview window, click on the “User Prefs” button. The User Preferences dialog will open.
    – Find the “Shadow Quality” menu (second from the top) and change it from the default of 500.
    – Click OK to close the dialog.

Note that larger maps will use more memory, but will produce better results.

    Hi d.

It seems that you’re setting up things correctly. I just ran a test and the shadow was caught.

Tell me which version of the software you’re using.

    A few notes:
    – Make sure that the light to cast shadows has shadows turned on
    – Make sure the cube is in the area where the shadow should be
    – Try rendering the cube without the shadow-catching material first and make sure you see shadows on the cube
    – Shadow-catching only works on final renders (the Invigorator layer must be set to Best quality) — it won’t work with Draft quality layers.

Let me know if you have more questions.

    Hi Phil.

I’d like to take a look at your file, if you don’t mind.
You can send it (just the .aep file) to: matt@zaxwerks.com

Also, could you tell me which version of AE and Invigorator you’re running?
Also also, are you on Windows or Mac?

    Thanks.

November 14, 2005 at 5:05 pm in reply to: image mapping problem

    Hello Ms. Boop 2.

Image maps applied to Invigorator objects are stretched to fit the extents of the outline.
Therefore, make sure your texture image doesn’t have any extra white space around the left,
right, top, and bottom edges. That is, make sure the logo image goes to the left/right/top/bottom
    edges of the texture map.

Let me know if you’d like to see an example.

November 10, 2005 at 5:15 pm in reply to: memory error.

    Hi mrj4k3.

    Sorry about the hassles.

Could you tell me a series of steps having to do with focal length to do that would cause the memory error?
It shoulds like you can create a repeatable memory error.

Also, would you mind sending me a file that is giving you trouble?
And could you tell how it’s giving you trouble?

I’d like to help you get this resolved.

Email your file (just the .aep) to: matt@zaxwerks.com

    Thanks.

November 9, 2005 at 5:22 am in reply to: Tracking a model to a null

    Hi A.N.

Make sure you have write permissions to the Zaxwerks folder you just installed.
We need to write a file into that directory — so any user using the Invigorator
needs write access to that folder.

If you think everything is ok, email me and I’ll send you a debug version that will
tell us exactly where the problem is.

Please email me privately at: matt@zaxwerks.com
(so that I have your email address)

    Hi A.N.

In order to properly track your NULL, you’ll need to do a few things:
    1. Add an After Effects Camera to your Comp.
    2. Make sure your NULL is a 3D Layer (click the 3D Layer checkbox in the Timeline)
    3. In the Effect Controls Window for your Invigorator Layer, make sure you have “Use Comp Camera” set to on.

You may also want to upgrade to v4.0.6 PRO (just released).

Give that a try and let us know how things work for you.
