  • Tracking a model to a null

    Hi,

I’m using invigorator 4.0.3 PRO (in case that makes a difference). I tried tracking an imported model, to a 3D null, that way i can animate the null in 3D and it affects the model. I wasn’t sure how to do it. So i went to the “sets” > “set 1” and under the pop-up “set 1 track 3D layer” i selected my null. But when i animate the null, nothing happens. Can someone tell me how to achieve this, if there is a way. And also what is this “set 1 track 3D layer” pop-up?

    Thanx,
    -A.N.

    Hi A.N.

In order to properly track your NULL, you’ll need to do a few things:
    1. Add an After Effects Camera to your Comp.
    2. Make sure your NULL is a 3D Layer (click the 3D Layer checkbox in the Timeline)
    3. In the Effect Controls Window for your Invigorator Layer, make sure you have “Use Comp Camera” set to on.

You may also want to upgrade to v4.0.6 PRO (just released).

Give that a try and let us know how things work for you.

    Thanks Matt,

I downloaded and installed the later version, replaced the entire zaxwerks folder, entered name, org., and serial number. Then I get a message saying “your permenant authorization code has been excepted”. I clicked OK, then i get a message saying “Invalid Zaxwerks Preferences folder

    Hi A.N.

Make sure you have write permissions to the Zaxwerks folder you just installed.
We need to write a file into that directory — so any user using the Invigorator
needs write access to that folder.

If you think everything is ok, email me and I’ll send you a debug version that will
tell us exactly where the problem is.

Please email me privately at: matt@zaxwerks.com
(so that I have your email address)
