  • Rob,

I am more ignorant than I thought. How do I open an EVENT in FCP X or add it to an existing library?

I have never encountered this before.

Edit..I just remembered you are on FCP X 10.0.8 and therefore you are not using the new library structure where the events and projects are in a library package.

  • Why not just add the SIMPLE BORDER effect from the effects panel and adjust the width to match the width of the existing blanking and the color to black?

  • Rob,

More than willing although I am running 10.1.1 on Mavericks

Even though we are not the same version it would be good to see. Maybe someone else who is running the same as you will also offer.

How do we exchange email addresses without making them public on here?

  • Hi Rob,

Are you happy / willing to share your library without the original or proxy media to see if it behaves the same way on my or anybody else’s system. I’m sure the ‘missing file’ clip won’t be a problem.

I do realise that COMMAND + LEFT or RIGHT ARROW nudges the object left or right on the timeline . I am after a keyboard command to change focus to the canvas.

I did not realise that COMMAND + ARROW key will change an objects position if it is selected in the layers list. I guess I can just change focus to the layers list. How would I do this with the keyboard. COMMAND + 4 would close the layers list if already open.

(Paul Newmann) Another thing with this is when I go to import selects (which it really won’t) it insists on copying the media to another location but if I import the entire CONTENTS folder it links to it.

I have a XF100 and I can import selects either to a FCP X Library or an external location.

I am happy to answer any questions – maybe I am misunderstanding your problem.

It works on a Mac here.

I select the transition and press COMMAND C to copy

I then position the CTI over the cut and target the tracks I want to apply the transition to.

I then press COMMAND V to paste

    1) this doesn’t work. Try it. Put a clip on the source window, then select the timeline, then try to just drag what’s on the source window to the timeline. – I edit 75% with shortcuts, but still, I also drag and drop.

It works for me. I’m on a Mac with Premiere CC

  • In Premiere CC press D to Select Clip at Playhead.

This selects the clips on targeted tracks
