Is there a way to change the focus back to the canvas from say the timeline by using the keyboard.

Example, I have an object selected in the timeline or the layers window and now I want to move the focus to the canvas so that when I use COMMAND + RIGHT ARROW it nudges the object position to the right.

What have I overlooked in the past 5 years

Hitting cmd and the arrow keys in the layers tab will move a selected object. Just not in the timeline, where it will be moved along the timeline itself, yes.

I do realise that COMMAND + LEFT or RIGHT ARROW nudges the object left or right on the timeline . I am after a keyboard command to change focus to the canvas.

I did not realise that COMMAND + ARROW key will change an objects position if it is selected in the layers list. I guess I can just change focus to the layers list. How would I do this with the keyboard. COMMAND + 4 would close the layers list if already open.
