This usually happens to me if I change something formatting on a text layer. I’ve figured out that if you just rename two or three of your layer groups it is back to normal. The must be different layers or it won’t work. It’s wierd but this seems to switch it back to the select tool. It is still a rather annoying quirk.

You can save a Livetype file of the texture and import it into your Motion Comp. I do it all the time. Just make sure you don’t have that same Livetype file in final cut, or it will constantly disconnect the media when you toggle back to final cut.

control + V , but it cuts all tracks at the playhead. Also works on the fly placing markers until you stop the playhead.

March 6, 2006 at 3:26 pm in reply to: Anybody here used/set-up Apple QMaster yet?

I think my favorite part about QMaster is that even though it is in fact a part of Final Cut Studio software and you are entitled to 90 days free tech support for set up and stuff, QMaster set up is not part of the deal. I found that out the hard way after waiting about 45 min on hold with apple only to be told they couldn’t help me setting up the program. I think I wasted more time trying to set up the program than it would have ever saved me encoding.

Walter’s right. Also if you are using particle emmitters this can increase render time significantly. Especially if you are using sparkles which have a high birthrate.

Peter Wiggins did a review of Sapphire plug-ins for final cut and he made a poloroid frame and it looked pretty nice. Here’s a link to the article.

[Dave LaRonde] “I give you great credit for having the patience to endure the garbage on the Disney Channel just to find something of interest.”

Well I have a sister who likes to watch terrible programing, so she constantly had the TV on Disney. I don’t really think i deserve credit for having patience with the Disney Channel. Now credit for having patience with my sister for not punching her in the face and taking the remote…. I might deserve some credit for that.

[Dave LaRonde] “Tell the truth: does anybody here actually LIKE watching the Disney Channel?”

Yes, I feel that certain shows like Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens, and Phil of the Future are Highly creative. They remind me of cooky style shows like The adventures of Pete and Pete. I feel like the creators of these shows are more focused on a good story than anything else. I don’t think you can just lump disney channel content into the same category as the films (esp animations) that the company craps onto the silver screen.
