Sorry, I missed the Digi part of your OG post. SO your Control Panel is set to SDI?

I usually call AJA as a last resort after I troubleshoot and then check the cow. Also you have very little info to go off of in your post. I’d suggest you check your aja control panel to make sure you are getting signal. You could have it set to SDI rather than analog.

[Rafael Amador] “Hi Tod,
Sorry to disagree with you. if you render you still exporting with Alpha channel. If you lose the Alpha, you may have something set wrong.
rafael”Nope, the only way to render an alpha out of FCP is if it is not rendered. Try for yourself.

select all your clips then hit opt + L to unlink the stereo pairs. Lock the video track and your audio 1 track. Then you should be clear to delte.

Got in touch with tech support at Zaxwerks and it was just an AE interfacing issue. I just had to chnage my workspace view and the problem was fixed. Even though the workspace I was in had no floating pallets it was still causing a problem.

that’s another problem. I typically don’t do much freelance work, and when i do it’s at extreemly low friend rates or free, so I really dont have a freelance editing rate. And the rate my company charges for me for a day, seems way too high.

If I were adobe I’d be pissed at apple. They have a whole new OS upgrade once a year. That’s a ton of work for a software company to go through (for free mind you) just so a portion of it’s customers can run the New OS. I’ll be honest, as a consumer it frustrates me, b/c out of all the stuff that comes into play with thes new OS’s only 10% of the stuff is actual improvements as far as OS functionality/ ram allocation stuff is concerned. The rest is just new fancy bells and whistles. As cool as the dashboard and widgets seemed, I honeslty don’t use them all that much. Expose’ on the other hand. That was handy.

Just rendered something out of motion 10bit D1 720×486
and it comes in square.

I’d tried an old AE rendered file that was in D1 and it came in correctly, but AE also knew it had created the file as it came in with the proxy logo and not the regular quicktime movie logo.
Animation codec 8 and 10 bit uncompressed are the troubled ones. DV stuff is fine. It’s only my 720×486 material. I’m gonna try rendering something out of Motion and then importing it into AE and see what that does. I’ll post back after I do.

If re-importing them makes them look fine, how about open in editor feature to open them in livetype and then save in livetype and go back over to FCP. What does that render like?
