[Shane Ross] “I don’t want to choose my ending. I want someone to tell me a story.”
I agree. And as a maker, you need to have something to tell, and your ending is super important for that.
Interesting as an experiment? Sure. A bit like playing a video game. But I think the narrative tradition of someone telling you a story that you don’t have any power over, still wins most people over.

Agreed. I don’t check this site nor FCP.CO a lot anymore, until there is some bigger news. Had nothing to do with hostility, it’s just been a bit quiet around FCPX and the iMac Pro / Mac Pro / … . I love X, but most conversations here had some interesting arguments, I didn’t mind the criticisms, even if I didn’t agree always at times. It often lead to interesting arguments about ways how people edit, etc. …

April 23, 2019 at 8:32 pm in reply to: Prores 422 file won’t open. I even asked “pretty please”+1 on the digital rebellion tools. Could be that timecode is gone but with prores files you can often recover up until the recording went wrong. All their tools are great backups for when stuff goes wrong and are very affordable. I wish you the best with recovering your file.

I thought the 2013 Mac Pro had HDMI 2.0 with 4K support, and since one of the FCPX updates a couple of years ago, FCPX read it as an A/V output. I’m pretty sure I connected 4K monitors to it in the past (but it’s been a while ago)

Thanks for the link and the info that they have lots of new hours of tutorials on their Youtube Channel. I downloaded them, to take a look. I’m happy with FCPX, but you cannot be *not* impressed with the pace of innovation and development at Black Magic.
These tutorials could help a lot to learn the program.
(If FCPX had a good built in 3D tracker for every effect, including color corrections, and a mixer that’s connected with the Audio Lanes, I think it could do a lot of finishing as well – but that’s off topic)Happy holidays!

[Oliver Peters] “I don’t know this for a fact, but I suspect there’s a deal with Atomos for a limited time period to be able to record ProRes RAW.”
I think it was in this interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DfFaNf796g ,
that the CEO of Atomos said they developed it together with Apple, and in return got a 6 month exclusivity deal.https://mathieughekiere.wordpress.com

August 7, 2018 at 8:27 am in reply to: Apple apparently keeps stumbling it’s way to success, somehow ????..[Andrew Kimery] “For an on-forum example, somewhat recently on an earnings call a shareholder was a bit hostile towards Apple’s growing investment in green (thus more expensive) energy. Tim Cook told the guy that if he’s not comfortable with green energy he’s got stock in the wrong company.”
If I’m not mistaken it was a shareholder that was complaining about the ‘Return on Investment’ of putting money and efforts in the assistive features Apple has in their systems for blind/deaf/disabled people. And Tim Cook said they don’t think about ‘damn ROI on features like that’, and if you are only looking for ROI, the shareholder was investing in the wrong company.
