I would say Camtasia is your best bet (or Macromedia Captivate) for making a screen movie .avi file of the presentation, particularly if it has slide timings and animations.

The AVC/AAC encoder for H.264 looks quite amazing. It seems to take a long time to render but the results look fantastic.

If you can use the captions that will show up in the Windows Media Player, it’s easy to create them. Use Command markers, hit c on the keyboard, choose TXT and put your caption text in the parameter field. You have to turn captions on in the player, but people who need them know how to do that.
I do this all the time and it works great.

Flash files work if you save them as Flash 5 format.

go to the editing tab of Preferences and set the still image duration and overlap as you like. Then select and drag all images to the timeline at once. They will be automatically crossfaded.

Why not use a velocity envelope set to zero? click on the frame you want to freeze, add the envelope, make two handles and set the second one to 0.
