That’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Gary. I never even notice that plug in before.

    Maybe this would work:
Make footage of a human form moving in a very high contrast background. Use lighting and various filters to get this clip to be a white figure moving on a black background.
Then use that as a mask on footage of your movie setting. You want to create a clip of the background in the shape of the moving human form. use a green solid color for the lowest track here to allow yourself to chromakey in the next step.
Then blur and reduce opacity on the moving human form, chromakey out the green, and composite this clip with another copy of the movie background. This should give you a moving mostly invisible human form.

    Good luck,

Make a document in photoshop that is 720 x howmany ever pixels it takes to get ALL your names on the document. It might be quite long.

Bring the image into Vegas. Open pan/crop and match output aspect ratio. Click the button to “prevent x movement.” Then use keyframes to scroll the text, moving and pausing where you need to. To keep the speed constant, have the same amount of distance between keyframes in the areas where it moves.

February 28, 2007 at 1:42 pm in reply to: A simple special effects graphic question

The quickest way I’ve done this sort of thing is to put a blue solid color generated media event on a track.

Open track motion. Turn off aspect ration preserve and size around center button and resize and position it until it is a blue line going from your weapon to the target.

Use track motion glow, opacity (and other filters) to make it look laser beam like.

Then use track motion key frames for position and a linear wipe on the clip to make it move across the screen.

    Hope this helps,

  • having no idea what “swapped out to the page file” means, if anyone ever figures out how to fix this problem and would set out the steps here, that would be great.

February 21, 2007 at 3:57 pm in reply to: filter for out of focus

If you are willing to spend the time, you can export the clip as frames. Take one frame into Photoshop and use Smartsharpen and whatever tricks you know for improving focus in Photoshop (i.e., just sharpen the focus in the luminance channel). Then batch process all the frames using the same techniques. Re-import the frames into Vegas as a clip (File>import media) and hopefully that will do a better job than the unsharp mask filter alone in Vegas. However, there are limits to any improvement in focus in post.

    Good luck,

I ended up getting pretty much what I needed by messing around in AfterEffects. I wish I knew more about how to use that program.

I will post a link to this project when I’m done. I’m trying a lot of new things.

    thanks.

  • Yes, I have experienced this exact phenom repeatedly, but unfortunately have no idea what is causing it.

in my project media window, when I sort by details, I have many columns. Right-click any column heading and you can see all the choices to view by. Not sure why you can’t see all these.

If you adjust the sliders in the chromakey window, you should be able to get good results. Look at a chromakey thread just a little way down this post index for some ideas and a great tutorial link on chromakeying.
