Person-shaped gaussian blur
Hi guys,
Pretty simple question here, but something I’m having trouble with.
Has anyone ever seen the 1980’s action movie “Predator”, with Arnold Schwarzenegger? They have an alien bad guy in the film which has a camouflaged suit that makes him almost invisible and the same colour as his background, like a chameleon – it also blurs the background slightly around him. If you’ve seen the film, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
I’ve been trying to achieve a similar effect using Vegas – it’s easy enough to lay down 2 tracks, place a Gaussian blur or Pixelate effect and then use cookie cutter to get a shape, and then keyframe some movements..the problem is vegas only has a few basic shapes availible from cookie cutter, such as ovals and squares – I would really like to have it form a vague humanoid outline in the shape of a person.
Is it possible to make your own “cookie cutter” shape? I have a nasty feeling someone is going to mention Bezier masks…I find them terribly difficult to use!
Any suggestions welcome though,
Cheers,
Neil
