The article in the previous message is very good. I would like to add one technique I have discovered to deal the issue of a background that is not lit evenly. In short if you have sections that are darker/lighter, duplicate your track once or more and use pan/crop to mask your image into sections that can be chromakeyed each a little differently.

Okay…upon TRIPLE checking, I realized I had encoded as an “.aa3” rather than “.ac3”
problem solved! -
Thanks, but I have double checked all this. Fortunately, the double encoding doesn’t seem to have an audible effect on the audio track.

That’s what’s so puzzling, Gary. I do have the drop-down in the bottom right corner of the optimize window set to ac3 not PCM. I still get the recompress warning. Any thoughts?

The credits will fade out in the distance if you use a mask that has a black/white gradient on it.

I found out the answer: go under View menu and change the proof settings to RGB instead of CMYK. This takes care of the problem.

Under the tools menu, you can (first making a timeline selection area) “selectively prerender video” which will show you your selection in the preview window as rendered but will disappear if you change anything. What I usually do is “render to a new track” or “preview in Player.” The first does create a new file, and the second only creates a temp file.
