I recall having the same issue. Try turning off “multi-frame rendering” in AE Memory & Performance preferences. Restart AE, load project and then send to ME..

Regarding hardware, I’m glad to read the Sonnet SEL adapted to TB2 is working for you. We are contemplating the same setup. OS-wise I’m not sure.. we too have a stand-alone HP LTO drive.. We’d like to run Monterey.

Regarding software, we were BruPE users too. We need to keep a working setup for restores. I’ve contacted OWC about BruPE / ArGest copatibility on newer MacOS but get mostly run-around instead of simple answers.. And, at nearly $600.00 for ArGest, we may just keep an old legacy system intact for restores.

Going forward, we have settled on Yoyotta. Was baffled by the UI at first too. Once it’s methodology clicked in, we have really enjoyed using it. What little support we needed has been very agile and thorough. Website has really useful tutorials as well and the software seems to keep pace with OS and hardware updates. As you can see, they frequent these forums with useful feedback instead of sales pitch.

Was going to ask the same question (actually about BruPE compatibility) with ArGest.

We have the same scenario.. existing library/environment we need to access and wondering if ArGest (and which version) will read/import our archive file and allow restores from existing spanned tape sets and, ideally, add to the old library.

Also perused the OWC/ArGest page but no conclusive info. Also contacted support to no avail.

Would appreciate any insight as well.

I trialed Cannister. It would not recognize my tape drive. This could easily be some faulty setup on my part but I could not manage to trouble-shoot with the limited info from their site. It also appears to only be capable of archiving a single directory source at a time. I was not able to cue multiple folders.. again, it may have this capability but I was not able to determine so from their site or fumbling for myself.

My trials with YoYotta have been much more productive. Their support was very responsive to my inane questions! Their helpful presence in this forum is appreciated. The exaustive how-to’s on the website are awesome! As has been mentioned, it is a bit overkill for my needs but it’s extensive capabilities may come in handy down the line. Will take some time for my BRU-brain to adapt! I think YoYatta would do well to offer a simplified UI mode.. only exposing the advanced stuff when needed.

I received no response from my inquires to the Imagine Products folks.. I’ll chalk it up to business disruption like many of us are experiencing. Some of the user reviews I was able to find were pretty mixed. They make other well-regarded tools so I wonder..

Was able to get YoYatta to format a tape and testing now. The GUI and workflow seem a little clunky at first but getting the hang of it. Will require some rethink of process coming from BRU-PE. Support has been very responsive considering they’re UK time zone. Works on Catalina and they also have a Big Sur beta so looks like they are pretty agile keepin the software up to date. Anyway, thought I’d pass along in case others are contemplating this option.

Anyone familiar with Imagine Products PreRoll Post? From their website it appears to be very BRU-PE like and writes to LTFS.

I’m in the hunt for a new workflow now too since the demise of TOLIS.. Preferably one that could still utilize my HP LTO-5 drive. Not sure if LTO-5 is possible with LTFS.. PreRoll Post and others only list compatibility with LTO-6 and up.

Doing a trial with YoYotta now.. It recognizes my LTO-5 drive but won’t allow me to format a new tape? Waiting on email reply from tech support. They suggest this drive should work.

Maybe just time for a shiny new LTO drive…$$$

Had this issue. Moving Apple Qmaster folder out of Library>application support>Apple Qmaster, solved the problem for me… Doing this causes FCP 7 to crash however.
