April 1, 2014 at 4:38 am in reply to: Breaking Mocha Tracker Corner Pin Constraints ?Hi Usman,
What you want to adjust is the surface. This is the little blue square icon in the mocha view controls that helps you define the four corners of the track you want to export.
When you turn the surface on, you can adjust the corners and make it as big or as small as you would like. You can then choose to either export it as a corner pin or a transform. Corner pin will constrain your tracked layer to the four corners of the pin, and transform will only operate in position, scale and rotation.
To make the tracked layer fit how you would expect, you need to make sure it is the same size as the original comp. There are tips on how to do this here:

Hi all,
What Erik explained is essentially correct, however see here for the instructions on how to fit an insert layer that is not the same dimensions:

July 26, 2013 at 6:02 am in reply to: Tracking objects that move off screen in MochaThe youtube clip does not seem to appear, but you can track like this in mocha by simply adding a new spline to the layer, so before the object you are tracking goes off screen, you can stop the track and draw another shape around another area on the same plane and then continue.
Alternatively if you have a long track where the plane is fairly consistent, you can actually unlink the shape entirely from the track:
1. Draw your shape
2. On the left-hand panel click the drop down that says “Link to Track”
3. Choose “None”
4. Turn on the surface (The blue square icon) or turn on the grid
5. Begin trackingWhat you will see is the shape will not move, but the surface/grid will start moving along. This is because the shape is no longer linked to the track and information is passing under the shape, providing the tracker with new information every frame.
This doesn’t always work, as you need to keep an eye on obstructions, but you can also stop the track and move the shape around then keep tracking. The shape does not control the track, so moving it will not move the tracking, it just gives it the search area to look for information.

Try using the Angle parameter to accomodate for the rotation. This seems like it should track well, but given it is a full 180 pan, your data will no longer be exactly planar. If you can send me the footage I can have a go: martinb[at]imagineersystems.com

November 15, 2012 at 4:29 am in reply to: Exporting Mocha track back into After Effects.Hi Brute,
If you are using text, you will need to precompose the layer first, as a layer with different dimensions to the composition will be distorted with corner pin data. See here in the docs on how to do this:

November 7, 2012 at 4:10 am in reply to: Null Object not using my Mocha track correctly!Hi Christopher,
Are you you viewing the tracking data via the surface and grid, or using the spline search area?
If you are moving the spline when the track is lost, you may not have a proper track, because the spline is not the tracking data, it is the search area the tracking is looking for information. Check the surface (the blue square) to make sure the tracking is looking correct. If you are trying to track a persons head for the transform data only, I recommend turning off perspective and shear in the motion parameters.

This is caused by selecting another tool first instead of closing the spline first.
It is resolved by choosing the name of the drawn layer from the “Link to Track” drop down on the left side, which will be set to “None” due to the previous action.

September 19, 2012 at 2:44 am in reply to: Option to paste mocha tracking data is greyed out??Are you getting any errors when solving the camera in the Camera Solve tab?
Do you get a high percentage when you solve?
Can you attach the data so we can take a look?Martin Brennand | Product Specialist | Imagineer Systems

Hi Ryan, a few things to check:
1. Is the spline you are exporting linked to a track (ie. Is “Link to Track” set to a layer name) ? Does it have manual keyframes?
2. Do you have any in/out points?
3. When you paste the data into a text file do you see all your frame numbers?Martin Brennand | Product Specialist | Imagineer Systems

October 24, 2011 at 1:42 am in reply to: Mocha tracking off in AE ! Can someone tell me what im doing wrong pleaseYes, you could just as easily do a corner pin for every box and link it the same way, rather than doing a mask. Of course the mask gives you more flexibility in terms of falloff, feathering etc, but there is never one way to do it. You’ve got options.
