You need to mask it over the top on a new layer.
You can either do that by creating the mask on a new and set it to track matte the face layer, or by copying the original layer and masking that layer on top of the comped one.Martin Brennand | Product Manager | Mocha – Boris FX (Imagineer Systems)

If I’m understanding it correctly, you probably just need to pre-comp your layer to stop the mask from distorting or shifting your effect.

If you already have an existing mask that you want to apply tracking data to, there’s a number of ways to do this.
Use a solid:
1. Cut and paste your existing AE mask to a solid
2. Paste the tracking data to that
3. Use the masked solid as a track matte. You will need to align the Mocha surface to the full dimensions of the image to make sure it is fully pinned as you want it.
Alternatively, use MochaImport plus to import your existing AE mask into Mocha:
https://aescripts.com/mochaimport/In general, it’s just easier to do the whole workflow inside Mocha, however.

STMaps are colour fielded maps like UV maps that are used to map and generate lens distortion. They are common in compositors like Nuke or Fusion and are often created by programs like Mocha and other tracking/paint software.Martin Brennand | Product Manager | Mocha – Boris FX (Imagineer Systems)

If there is a perspective shift in the shot, then you may need to do a full 3d card or corner pin, but if it’s just tracking/shaking you may be able to get away with a simple transform
How big is the sky layer? Is it larger than the keyed plate so you have room to manoeuver?

October 9, 2019 at 1:25 am in reply to: Tracking sky replacement with camera reframesRight, so you may be able to track this in Mocha AE.
If you need a primer, this tutorial is a good place to start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYxN1g9pjOg
This tutorial covers Mocha Pro, but the basics are the same for the lighter Mocha AE version.

September 19, 2019 at 12:29 am in reply to: Can you add ‘digital makeup’ or a ‘tattoo’ without Mocha? You would probably need to do it in patches. since the face is made of of tiny planes (forehead, cheeks, cheekbones, chin, nose side, nose bridge etc) you’ll get unnatural motion if you try to splay a tattoo over too many different moving parts, esepcially where the cheeks and under the eyes move.

September 17, 2019 at 1:11 am in reply to: Can you add ‘digital makeup’ or a ‘tattoo’ without Mocha? You could potentially do it tracked with Mocha AE and a corner pin, but you’d need to do some compositing to make sure the tattoo matched the lighting and contour of the face. With a simple coloured tattoo this may be easy to fake with a simple overlay, but might need a few passes to be believably depending on how close the face is to the camera and how much it turns.

Again, it looks like you’re applying the mask to the corner pinned layer. Adding a mask to a layer that is corner pinned will change the dimensions of the layer and therefore change the way the corner pin is applied.
Go like this:
1. Precomp and expand the insert layer inside the comp
2. Apply the corner pin to the precomp
3. Either:
A) Precomp the corner pinned layer to maintain the dimensions and apply the mask OR
B) apply the mask to a new solid and use it as a track matte.Martin Brennand | Product Manager | Mocha – Boris FX (Imagineer Systems)
