[John Rofrano] “It could be that the audio is so low that the waveform is not showing. I would right-click the audio event and select Switches > Normalize. This should make the waveform louder and make it show (if it’s there).”
Thanks John. I tried that with no success. I should mention that my volume meters are peaking properly. I’m using the “Default” Window Layout and the volume bars on the right are hitting the “3DB”…
One other thing I should mention. I’m using the Canon XA10 to record my videos. This camera is new to me. I’m using the two XLR inputs on the camera to record audio. Each mic is on it’s own track. When I bring the clip into SVP 10, I’m duplicating the audio track, and “swapping” channels to get both tracks to come thru the left and right speakers. (I probably could just use the “downmix” option for this as well)
So, I don’t know if the way I am capturing the audio is the source of my issue, or if I’m doing something wrong in Vegas. The good news is that the audio is there and the gain is correct.

Thanks Steve – That did the trick!

Thanks for the quick responses guys. The left track headers were indeed “highlighted” and that nice little shortcut “CTRL-SHIFT-A” did the trick.
While I do feel quite silly, I also appreciate the time and aggravation you saved me, so I’m glad I made the post.
Thanks again.

Thanks Steve –
I did try that, as well as a “slew” of other “on” “off” toolbar options, but no luck as of yet.

Doug –
You captured the “New-user” experience well. I’m always hesitant to post in forums such as this about “basic” program usage and functionality. The reason being – is that someone at sometime probably had similar questions and if you just “searched” hard enough in the forum or elsewhere on the web, you would find you answer.
However, the application of that line of thinking for the usage of Boris Graffiti is different. Mainly because there is such a void of information specific to Graffiti available. It took me about a day to figure out that there was similar “functionality” in the text applications of RED, but if you weren’t familiar with RED ( as I was not)you would never know to look there.
I share your frustration with understanding even the most basic functions of the program. I hate to admit this (as I’m somewhat savvy with learning new programs), but in one instance it took me 45 minutes to figure out how I lost my “selector” (arrow) and how to get it back. I eventually got it back, but come to think of it, I still don’t know how I did it.
With all that said, I love this program. I’m actually doing things by “mistake” and coming up with some really cool treatments. The problem is, I can’t yet do “What I intended to do”, because of lack of understanding on how to get there. I’m setting aside about 90 minutes per day to just work in this program and discover whatever I can. It’s not the optimal usage of time, but its all I can do for now until other sources of info become available.
I did stumble across a PDF of a Graffiti 3 User Guide. That has been quite helpful in helping to learn the basics, It has some self explanatory tutorials and is quite robust with its information. If you’d like me to send it to you let me know.

Thanks John. I`ll give Graffitti 6 trial a look. I was hesitiant to download any trials unless I was sure it was close to what I was looking for. I’ll work with the 3D comtainers and motion blur to see if those will do the trick.

hello –
I’m still looking for a solution to create the type of titling I referenced earlier in the this thread. I asked in another thread if Boris Graffiti 6 was compatible with Sony Vegas Pro 10 – and the response was “yes”. My question now is can Graffiti 6 accomplish a similar treatment of text as the video I linked to above, or would I be better off upgrading to SVP11 with New Blue Titler? or neither and do something else?
I’m hoping since the last time we talked about this, that something may have surfaced to address this kind of text generation.
P.S. I did look at Scattershot and liked the effects, but wasn’t sure if that would be applicable for text generation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks Steve. I’ve done some of this type of work with Keyframes, but holy cow it took forever! And it was only for a few seconds video. I’m afraid that approach isn’t “scalable” for what I’d like to do.
I was hoping to find some “simpler” solution so I could keep costs down for what I charge. The time it takes would kill the project for where I’m at right now. Perhaps I just need to “Learn faster” :^)

Thanks Steven – I’ve tinkered with AE and agree with both the price and the learning curve. I was hoping there was a program that would simplify this…
