In Photoshop, make sure the file is 8-bit (not 16) and the color space is RGB (not CMYK or anything else) – if that’s not it, also check that you’ve rasterized any layer effects (glow, stroke, drop shadow, etc.).

Sorry, no on both counts. You can, however, with vector artwork, disable “Fixed Resolution’ so that you can scale the layer as large as you like with no loss of resolution.

Add the Random Motion behavior if it’s not there already, or if it is, crank it way up.

Have you tried the preset emitters in the Library? They make great starting points.

Shapes can only exist in 2-D planes in Motion – the plane can be oriented in any way, but all the shape points must be on the plane (they only have X and Y coordinates). However, a motion path can have points anywhere in X, Y, or Z. So there’s usually a way to accomplish what you want to do with another method.

Match move the line to each tracked point, and for each match move, disable the behavior for the control point that you don’t want to be affected by clicking the gear icon next to the list of control points in the Inspector (when the shape is selected).

You need to put your image mask on the text (or on a group containing just the text), then put the paint stroke in the well in the HUD. You are masking the text with the paint stroke, not the other way around.

  • You need to add Build In and Build Out markers in Motion to lock down the timing of the opening and closing animations.

  • Best solution I’ve found is to rename the Motion 5 application – e.g., “MotionX”
