What a terrible situation, I feel for you. Have you go into your autosave files? They may be more recent ones there that you can use.
Another idea would be to try to open the file in Motion 5.

That’s no going to work. To have an image break apart, you’ll need to use a replicator. It’s actually a bit complicated, Patrick Sheffield covers the techniques in depth in his Motion book.

When you do a Save As, you have the option to bundle all the assets used with the project file.

Sounds like a bug. Try changing the text layout from Type to Paragraph and see if that works.

No, I think you’ll need to make two clones – a blurred one on the bottom, a cropped one on the top. You won’t use the source at all – put it below everything else.

Just rename Motion 5 to something else, and FCP will launch Motion 4 for round-tripping.

That’s what Build In and Build Out markers are for. Just add them to your project in Motion to maintain the timing of your incoming and outgoing animations.
