Actually, they are all selling extremely well from what I have heard, it’s more an issue of the fact that there aren’t enough changes in Motion 2 to warrant the cost of creating and replacing the current books.
I think your ideas for books are great, btw

A mask can’t be open, it has to be closed, by definition. A shape doesn’t have to be closed and the method you describe will work.

Only thing you can do is change the frame rate – select the clip and press shift-F to bring up the Media tab of the Inspector, that’s where you do it.
Better, though, to do it in FCP and export a movie for Motion.
