Here’s the deal, IMHO: Motion automatically causes position keyframes to be interpolated as bezier, but scale keyframes are interpreted as linear. I have found that by simply changing the scale keyframes to bezier to match the position keyframes, I get smooth as butter starts and stops.

There are several new HD templates that ship with Motion2, but none of the existing templates from Motion1 have an HD version.

Use the Replicator to replicate white squares and use the Sequence Replicator behavior to have them squeeze horizontally. Then use that as a mask applied to the image.

Just select all your objects in the File Browser, drag them to the Canvas, but don’t release the mouse – you’ll see options to either edit them in by compositing or sequential.
Note and feature request: you can’t add any overlap to the Sequential option, would be nice to build in overlap to fade between stills, for example
