You can do the freeze frame with a retiming behavior like Set Speed, or you can turn on variable speed and set keyframes, whatever is easier for you.

Then you are right, you’ll need to mask out the object at the point of the freeze frame and add various filters for effects, and perhaps a color solid generator or shape for a background.

Try changing the blend mode of the floor. If it’s white, set it to multiply; if black, to add; or if 50% grey, to overlay – you can then change the blend mode of the reflection itself to compensate.

You won’t be able to use textures larger than the limit of your graphics card – 2K, 4K, or 8K depending on the card. An alternative is to put a smaller graphic in a 2D group, which won’t be affected by the camera, or to set the background to a specific color.

You can mimic an adjustment layer by applying effects (filters, behaviors and masks) to a group containing several layers. You also should check out how to use an image mask, it’s great for masking one layer (or group of layers) with the luma or alpha information of another layer (or group of layers).

Assuming you have embedded the Motion project file in your FCP sequence, you’ll need to right-click it, choose Open in Editor, and make the adjustment in Motion. When you save, it should update automatically.
