Is this possible in Motion 4? I understand that you can have ‘Reflections only’ in the ‘Cast Reflections’ property, but there doesn’t seem to be a ‘Reflections only’ setting for object display.

Any other way to achieve this?

If you select the object that is casting the reflections (Not receiving it) and hit F1 to open up the properties tab you can go to the blending section and change the Cast Reflections from Yes to No or Reflections Only. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Stephen: That’s quite not what I was after, I need to get rid of the reflecting surface (i.e. a floor) while keeping the reflection cast onto the floor. ‘Reflections Only’ doesn’t get rid of the floor…

Try changing the blend mode of the floor. If it’s white, set it to multiply; if black, to add; or if 50% grey, to overlay – you can then change the blend mode of the reflection itself to compensate.

Great, thanks Mark! Will have to try that. I wonder if it’ll work on a video background.
