I don’t understand your question about the Y-axis – but the reason the particles become blurred when you add the filter is because of the order of operations – the extrude filter is rasterizing the image, which is then made into particles.

If you click the Browse button in the Text Inspector to bring up the OSX Font window, you’ll see that it organizes fonts into categories like Favorites, Recently Used, Classic, Fixed Width, Fun, etc.
You can even create your own categories.

When you select the layer for the movie and go to the Properties inspector, what does it say in the Timing section? Perhaps there is a Hold end condition applied, or keyframes, or a time value change?

You can use the offset to have it match timecode from a particular clip. But for a true TCR, you’ll need to use Final Cut Pro.

If you are using Motion 4, it’s in Library > Generators > Text Generators
If you are using Motion 3, well then, it’s not there.

IOW, if you apply the SmoothCam filter in FCP and then send that clip to Motion, Motion converts the filter to the Stabilize behavior with exactly the same results.
